Clinic Team Leader - Speech Pathologist - Melbourne based

  • Permanent Part-time Clinical Team Leader - AT Consultant - Speech Pathology
  • 3 or 4 days per week, [3 or 4 days per week, or 7 day fortnight].
  • Melbourne role - based at Zyteq in Port Melbourne, with potential for 1 day per week work from home.
  • Salary commensurate with experience.

We are looking for an experienced Speech Pathologist to lead our clinical team. 

  • The purpose of this role is to ensure clients are assisted and provided clinical guidance to select the most suitable Electronic Assistive Technology solution and implement its use in their life.  This is achieved by managing the clinical team and by supporting the wider team as needed and also providing direct support to clients and clinicians through consultations and presentations.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • This is a unique role. Combine your Speech Pathology experience with product expertise to provide guidance and information specifically around AAC device selection, and implementation. 
  • This is a permanent part-time Clinical Team Leader position for a Speech Pathologist.
  • Work days: 3 or 4 days per week, would work well for this role, or a 7 day fortnight could be considered.  Pay will be commensurate with experience.
  • The role is based at our Port Melburne office providing in-person and online consultations, support, and training for our clients, and has potential for a portion of the time to be worked from your home office. Presentations, conference exhibitions and events add to the variety of the position. Some local and regional travel will be involved, all with support from our Clinical Team and the Melbourne office team.
  • Join our dynamic team in providing expert guidance to clients and their teams. This is a hands-on role, where you will be involved in consulting to teams and clients both online and in-person as required.
  • In this role you will be actively involved in all aspects of client services, from initial contact to review and discuss technology needs, through to device selection and implementation.In addition, this role provides the opportunity to assist in developing resources, and training materials to assist customers, as well as presenting at industry events, providing product presentations and educational in-services and workshops.
  • In addition to equipment training, professional development and clinical supervision and support are available.

The key responsibilities of this role are to:

  • Provide the clinical input in coordinating our team of AT consultants and client-related activity in conjunction with the Client Services Coordinator, who takes care of the administration. Oversee client-contact activities and ensure adherence to procedures and policies.
  • Supervise and support team members: Foster relationships with team members and provide training and professional development opportunities as needed. 
  • Implement evidence-based practices: Guide the team in evidence-based approaches to deliver high-quality client services. 
  • Coordinate the team's product and application knowledge, and resources for client support. 
  • Support Client Services Coordinator in allocating client consultations.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations: Stay informed on NDIA guidelines and requirements, and ensure the team adheres to professional ethics and funding guidelines.

YOUR TYPICAL DAY

As the Clinical Team Leader your day will be a mix of direct client work and taking care of the Clinic Team and their activities. Most days start with the online daily team meeting connecting with the office and other remote team members, then you might follow up email enquiries, and a booked customer online support session to provide guidance during a trial. You'll meet with the Client Sevices Coordinator to discuss allocation of clinic team members for in-person sessions. Join the leadership team for a meeting about new procedures to improve our services. In the afternoon, prepare for a consultation visit and head out to meet with the client and their team for an evaluation session, or to provide a presentation to a group of clinicians. After the session, write up notes and follow up actions such as arranging trial equipment for the client.

ABOUT YOU

We are seeking a dynamic clinician with leadership qualities or potential, who is an experienced AAC Speech Pathologist with knowledge of our equipment (or similar equipment and potential to learn quickly). Experience working with clients and their teams with electronic assistive technology, AAC systems and devices and computer access (especially eye gaze) is important. Experience with the key symbol-based page sets, as well as text-to-speech options will be important, as will previous work in a multi-disciplinary team where you are likely to have been exposed to eye-gaze and alternative access technology. 

  • As a unique role, we don't expect that you have the exact experience described, but probably supervised clinicians and worked at a senior level. 
  • An enthusiasm to learn more about the wider communication tools, for example using a device for email, messaging, social media and phone calls will utilise your aptitude for technology. Ideal for a GRID 3 aficionado.
  • You will be enthusiastic to learn about the Zyteq technology and becoming a product specialist, underpinned by your application and implementation experience. A high level of autonomy and independence and ability to lead a remote team is required.
  • Training will be provided in the advanced equipment and software elements, but it is anticipated that you will arrive have a strong AAC or alternative access foundation and experience implementing AAC devices (beyond iPad) with children and adults with disability.
  • It is essential that you have exceptional communication and presentation skills and you thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • Above all you will be happy to bring your customer focused clinical approach to work collaboratively and be willing to transition a supplier role, to provide support and guidance to achieve positive outcomes for our clients.
